Our History

The Arosa Music Course Weeks were established in 1987 by Christian Buxhofer, then president of Arosa Kultur, to strengthen summer tourism in Arosa. It began with four courses and a total of 50 participants. The course weeks have grown continuously ever since.

Until 2013, Christian Buxhofer led the course weeks on a voluntary basis. From then on, the association established a professional office.
Christian Buxhofer passed away unexpectedly in 2014.

Since then, the Music Course Weeks have been led by his wife Angela Buxhofer. The secretariat is managed by Sandra Hartmann. Both are supported by a small team of helpers.

Today, a total of around 130 courses take place in summer and autumn with over 1,450 participants. This makes the Arosa Music Course Weeks the largest festival of its kind in Europe.
