Prof. Helge Slaatto
Helge Slattoo (born 1952) was concertmaster of Odense Symphony Orchestra, Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen and Randers Chamber Orchestra.

For 25 years he was professor at the Hochschule für Musik der Universität Münster, presently he teachers at MGK Copenhagen. He gave master classes throughout the world and his students won prizes at major international competitions like the Joachim Competition, Hannover, the Leopold Mozart Competition, Augsburg and the Queen Elisabeth Competition, Bruxelles. His long and fruitful collaboration with German double bass player Frank Reinecke led to more than fifty works composed for the two, they were also awarded the special prize of Deutsche Schallplattenkritik.

Their last CD, the much praised “Ars Nova - New Music”, presenting vocal music form the early middle ages arranged for violin and double bass, inspired Helge Slaatto to continued involvement with den world of vocal music: Together with Anne Mette Staehr, with whom he has been performing since 1995, he has regularly played songs by Grieg, Sibelius and others, a.o. at the Late Summer Festival in Hvide Sande and in Copenhagen, of which Anette Slaatto and Helge Slaatto have been artistic directors since 2014.

Helge Slaatto does not play the violine all the time, he also loves football!
